Muslim matrimonial in Australia

For most Muslim families in Australia, the search for a spouse is a family matter first. Parents, siblings and relatives help decide who to approach, and the families meet before the couple do. Khandaan is built around that: families create the profile, introductions go from one household to another, and there is no endless swiping.

  • Free profile, no credit card

How a Muslim rishta usually works

A rishta usually starts with a proposal sent by one family to another, followed by a meeting at home, istikhara for those who pray it, and conversation between the two households about expectations, values and the practical side of life together. The nikah follows once everyone is comfortable, with the mahr agreed between the families.

Khandaan keeps the early part of that process private. A profile shows the family’s city, the candidate’s age, education and occupation and a short introduction in the family’s own words. Photos and further details open up only when both sides agree to connect.

Values and practice

Families care about different things: how observant the household is, whether the candidate wears hijab or keeps a beard, attitudes to work after marriage, and where the couple will live. The family’s introduction on each profile is the place to say what matters to you, so the first message is a conversation, not a guess.

Questions families ask

Is Khandaan free for Muslim families in Australia?

Creating and listing a profile is free, with no credit card. To send introductions you pay $79 once, GST included, by PayID, and that unlocks unlimited introductions. There is no subscription. Matchmakers list for free.

How is Khandaan different from a dating app?

Khandaan is built for families, not for individuals swiping on strangers. A parent or relative can create the profile, introductions go from one family to another, and photos stay private until both families agree to connect.

Are the Muslim profiles in Australia verified?

ID checks are optional. A member can send a photo of a government ID and a selfie, a Khandaan team member reviews them, and the photos are deleted once checked. Profiles that have passed carry a badge. It is a basic check, not a background check, so families should still make their own enquiries.

Can I use a matchmaker?

Yes. You can browse matchmakers who list on Khandaan, and those who have had an ID check carry a badge. Matchmakers list for free, and there are no extra fees for the families they work with.
