Behind Khandaan

Why We Charge $79 Once Instead of a Monthly Subscription

By the Khandaan team · Updated · 2 min read

Most matrimonial sites charge monthly, and many sell credits that run out. We chose something different: it is free to create a profile, and sending introductions costs $79 once, GST included. Here is the thinking behind that, and what it does and does not include.

What you pay, and what it covers

Creating and listing a family profile is free, with no credit card. To send introductions, you make a single payment of $79 AUD, including GST, by PayID. That unlocks unlimited introductions. There are no credit packs and no subscription. Matchmakers list for free.

A member who has paid can download a tax invoice for the payment from their account.

Why not a subscription

A match search does not end on a schedule. Some families find someone in a month and others need longer. A monthly fee charges you for the time it takes, and creates an incentive for a platform to keep people searching. We would rather you found a match and left.

Why not credits

Credits make each introduction feel like a gamble, and push people to send fewer, less considered messages, or to hold back from a good one. A single payment lets a family approach whoever seems right without counting.

Why PayID, and why we confirm by hand

PayID lets us avoid handling card details at all. Each family gets a personal payment reference, and our team confirms the payment by hand before anything is unlocked, which usually takes two to three business days. It is slower than a card, and it keeps things simple and secure.

You can read more on our page about secure payments.

Refunds

If you have paid but have not yet sent any introductions, you can ask for a refund. Once you have used your unlimited introductions, the fee is non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise, including your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. The full wording is in our terms.

What the fee does not buy

It does not guarantee a match, and nobody can honestly promise one. It pays for a place to look, a process that protects privacy and a team that reviews reports and ID checks. If a family never replies, or a profile does not suit, that is part of any search.

Try it before you pay

Because a profile is free, you can create one, read other families’ profiles and decide whether it feels right before paying anything. If you prefer a matchmaker, they list for free and you can browse them now.
